LAWRENCE J. LOHEIT

CHAPTER 13 TRUSTEE

Mr. Loheit is a native of Sacramento where he also attended college before his long history of involvement with bankruptcy matters.  In 1963 he started his career as the Assistant to the Chapter 13 Trustee in the newly developed 22 county region representing the Sacramento Division of the Eastern District of California.

In 1968, Mr. Loheit was appointed as one of the two Chapter 7 Trustees for the same region.  It was during these years that the Sacramento Chapter 13 Trusteeship developed into not only one of the largest Chapter 13 offices in the United States, but one that was recognized as the most effective and efficient trusteeships in the nation.  In 1976, Mr. Loheit was appointed as the sole Chapter 13 Trustee, by the now deceased Chief Bankruptcy Judge, Robert E. Woodward.  Mr. Loheit was also appointed as the standing Chapter 12 Trustee in 1986 for the Eastern District of California, of which he still maintains.  In 1988, he was reappointed as a Standing Chapter 13 Trustee by the United States under the Department of Justice.

Due to a large volume of case filings in his region, Mr. Loheit currently shares all Chapter 13 filings in this 22 county district with Jan P. Johnson, Trustee.  In addition, Mr. Loheit has been an active member of the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees (NACTT) and has served on their Board.
